Monday Meditation

We had our final Read Across America Week field trip to Peter's Pense Catholic Library on Friday! Mrs. Brandewie's 7th grade and Mr. Bensman's 8th grade classes had a chance to learn about growing in your faith and resources at Peter's Pense that they can use to help learn about continuing their faith after before and after Confirmation, sainthood, and more! They also got to browse and learn more about how to get a library card. Thank you Peter's Pense again for welcoming our students and we are looking forward to our Jeans and Sweatpants Day tomorrow - $1 to wear jeans or sweatpants and all proceeds benefit Peter's Pense!

Today concluded Read Across America Week - Go Wild for Reading at Holy Angels School! It's more important now than ever to foster a love of reading in children and adults. We want to thank the following school teachers and staff members as well as others in the community for their help making this week a success for our students.
Mrs. Kayla Huston and Mrs. Jennifer Hoersten for putting together the decorating contest - everyone's doors and bulletin boards turned out AWESOME.
Mrs. Kris Schwarzman for making special person lunches a success and being patient and flexible with our many guests in the building for lunches throughout the week.
Mrs. Carrie O'Leary for helping to get prizes and track information for Get Caught Reading and our AR point competition as well as working with Mrs. Denise Stauffer to get the Ignatius Press book fair here at the school.
Mr. Weston Bensman for getting student council to help collect books in the morning for the book swap, especially 8th grader Sophie Sollman.
Mrs. Michelle Voress for being a huge help to student council each morning at the book swap table.
Mrs. Kylie Moeller for coordinating convenient times for Pause, Prowl, and Pounce that worked for everyone's schedule - several students reported they wish they could have 10 minutes of silent reading time every school day!
Mrs. Julie Linson, Mrs. Kelly Gagnet, and Mrs. Melissa Blenman for working with us to put together great programming for our field trip visits to Peter's Pense Religious Library and for the volunteers at Peter's Pense who helped read stories and educate our students about the importance of the library.
Congratulations goes out to all of our various winners this week:
Mrs. Paulette Gradwell and her 3rd grade for winning the door decorating contest. Mrs. Gradwell received a goody bag with pens, a gift card, and a treat and the 3rd grade class received free Kids Meal coupons for both Applebees and Texas Roadhouse.
8th grader Sophie Sollmann for winning the AR point competition and getting the Kids Kindle Fire Tablet. Sophie, generous as always, ended up already having one and wanted the prize to go to the runner up - which was Oliver Bartow! That was very kind of Sophie and congratulations to Oliver.
Talitha Bezy, Lucia Gradwell, Frankie Rhoades, Sophie Sollmann, and Beck Verhotz for winning the Get Caught Reading drawings - all 5 got to pick out an item to take home from the Ignatius Press book fair table.
Families, please continue to make reading a priority in your home and happy Read Across America Week!
